“I have lots-a friends at my work. Yes. Lots and lots of friends,” Jet informed me as set off on our morning walk.
“At your school?”
“No, at my work — at my purple work!”
“Where do you work?”
“At my purple work. It’s purple and it’s far, far away. I gots lots-a friends there and a kitty.”
“A kitty? Do you know someone who has a kitty at work?”
“No, just Jet. Jet has a kitty at her work and friends. Lots and lots of friends. We have food there sometimes. We eat lunch there. I have a dog there, too.”
“A dog too!”
“A nice dog. I like kitties too.”
What color is the kitty?”
“Black. It’s a black kitty and it likes me.”
“Yes. I’m sure it does. You are very nice with pets. So, how do you get to your work?”
“I go there when I get up.”
“Do you ride your bicycle?”
“No! My work is far, far away. I drive in a van. It’s too hard to drive in a car, but I can do it in a van.”
“Do you drive the van all by yourself?”
“I can when I get bigger I can do it. I’m going to have a black van, but I can’t do it right now because it’s too hard.”
“Does someone to help you drive to work?”
“No, Jet can do it. I can do it. I don’t need any help. It’s okay… There are lots of animals at my work.”
“What was the name of your work again?”
“It’s my ‘pottimus work. Hippo-pot-muss work. I eat there sometimes. I put spaghetti on it. Jet goes far, far away in her work. When I fly like a bird I make a really big noise! It’s cold out here, Grandma!”
“Yes, it’s much colder than I thought it would be, but if we stay in the sun we’ll be okay.”
“You’d better hold Jet’s hand.”
“Okay. Your hands really are cold. Maybe we should have worn gloves. Do you want to put them in your pockets?”
“We left our glubs at home.”
“I know. Do you want to put your hands in your pockets to keep them warm?
“No, you hold onto it Grandma. You hold onto Jet’s hand – that’s the way to do it!”
Yes, little one, your Grandma will gladly hold your hand just as long as she possibly can!
